Now for those of you who are not yet aware – Luxola.com (now known as Sephora.com.au) was a Singaporean website that stocked a wide variety of beauty products, ranging from makeup, skincare, and hair and nail products. They ship to Australia for a small fee, but do offer free shipping over $55.00 (which isn’t very hard to spend, when you see the awesome brands they stock). Luxola constantly ran sales and great deals, whilst also offering samples which is a great incentive. And, I admit it I got lured in by the AMAZING ‘proposition’ Luxola was offering at the time of my purchase. Basically if you spent over so much, you received a free ‘Luxola Beauty Kit’ as well as your chosen 3 samples. So, I got on it, straight away (I’m a sucker for freebies! Lol).
OK, so the main product that originally had caught my eye
was the Sleek matte eyeshadow palettes. This was due to my ‘excessive’ shimmer
collection. I felt as though I was only restricted to shimmer eye shadows when I
wore makeup, because I didn’t own any matte shadows. I’ll be totally honest, I
already knew I preferred shimmers, only because I was use to them and I thought
they looked really nice and were easy to blend. So, I thought it was probably
time to broaden my eyeshadow collection and grab some matte’s to try and
incorporate into my looks.
Therefore, I decided to go with the I-Divine Ultra MatteV2 palette (all mattes) and the Bad Girl palette (mixture of mattes and
shimmers). In addition to the lack of mattes I owned, I also discovered that my
collection of eye shadows generally consisted of warm colours. Hence why this
purchase was a real big leap out of my comfort zone, settling for the ‘cool
matte’ palettes. Although I’m glad I did, the sleek palettes are extremely
pigmented – be sure to use a light hand and tap off the excess. But I will
admit, am still getting use to the colours – as many of you ‘warm’ gals will
know about… it takes time! But I’ll get there.
The second item added to my shopping cart was a Sleek
blush palette of 3 (in the shade Pumpkin). Again, this purchase was purely based on finding something
new that my collection was missing... and it just so happened to be that bright
coloured blushes were missing. Being use to warm, neutral blushes like mauve's
and dusty roses, I thought it was a fitting time for me to experiment with new
colours and a new brand. And just like the Sleek shadows, these blushes are
helllllllllaa pigmented , I would definitely suggest lightly tapping your brush
once into the product and then tapping the crap out of your brush to get rid of
any excess – and that’s how serious I am about the pigmentation of these
products.. It’s crazy.
Following on from my little Sleek spree, I then decided
to buy their contour kit (in the shade medium). The kit includes 2 colours, a matte contour colour
and a shimmer highlighting colour. Obviously 2015 has by far been the year of
the contour (and highlight), and I thought to myself “You can never have enough
contouring products”. So that justified the click of the ‘Add to Cart’ button.
A continuing common theme that you can find within the Sleek products is
amazing pigmentation and colour pay-off. The medium kit has the perfect colours for
my skin type to contour and highlight with and the style and shape of the
packaging is ideal for travelling.
With my Luxola purchase, because I had spent over so much
money on the Sleek products, I then was entitled to a free beauty kit (as they
called it). The kit included a generous sized cosmetics bag (which I was actually
in need of), a L’Oreal nail filer, a Sigma E05 (eyeliner brush), a DuWop venom gloss, a ModelCo matte lipstick and matching lip liner, Sleek eye dust, and a
beauty sponge. Along with the products that I chose and the beauty kit, with
every purchase you are also entitled to three samples. And for the sake of this
post I will mention what samples I chose. Those being , a Maybelline Colour
Show nail polish in Feisty Fuchsia, a Lynca Care pigment and an Alpha-H Liquid Gold.
Don’t get me wrong, I was extremely excited to receive
this package in the mail, and even more enthusiastic about actually using the
products - given that these were brands I had never tried before. I truly do
believe that I got my money’s worth and I will definitely be purchasing from
Luxola (Sephora) in the near future J
Go ahead and check out their website, they recently started to stock theBalm,
Benefit and Makeup Forever (and soon to be Urban Decay, I believe). They have
great brands on board and I couldn’t fault the service and delivery of my
products.
PS. After I had finished writing this post, Luxola made a HUGE (but exciting) announcement (as pictured down below), therefore I did edit the post to suit the new change of name. Along with the announcement, and new website some of the older products and brands that were stocked are now not e.g. Maybelline and L'Oreal, hence why some of the products can not be linked as they are not on the website any more. Sorry for any inconvenience. But, on another note, yippeee for all of the new brands.. Kat Von D, Marc Jacobs, Make Up For Ever, Becca, Anastasia Beverly Hills and many more to come :D
